SOUNDSLAYER Engine | Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The SOUNDSLAYER Engine app is the official app for Panasonic's SOUNDSLAYER series (SC-GNW30 / SC-GNW10S / SC-GNW10S).
By using this app, you can perform various operations and customizations such as switching sound modes, adjusting the equalizer, setting sound effects like virtual surround and bass enhancement, updating firmware, and checking battery levels and connection status of compatible devices.
Additionally, it supports Bluetooth® pairing and device registration, in-app language switching (Japanese/English), and access to various help and support information.

The SOUNDSLAYER Engine app is free to download.

The app supports Japanese and English.
You can change the language in the app's settings menu.

The main changes from SOUNDSLAYER Engine v1.0.0 to v2.0.0 are as follows:
・Expanded compatibility with macOS, iOS, and Android
・Now supports SC-GNW10S and SC-GNW30
・Enhanced firmware update functionality
*The user interface and usability remain the same as before, so users of v1.0.0 can continue to use the app with confidence.

The main changes from SOUNDSLAYER Engine v2.0.0 to v2.1.0 are as follows:
・You can power off the neck speaker from the SOUNDSLAYER Engine app.

After installing SOUNDSLAYER Engine v2.0.0 or later, please uninstall the previous version (v1.0.0) and refrain from using it.

To operate SC-GNW10S and SC-GNW30, you need SOUNDSLAYER Engine v2.0.0 or later. These models cannot be operated with v1.0.0.

The SOUNDSLAYER Engine app supports the following SOUNDSLAYER series products:
・SC-GNW10
・SC-GNW10S
・SC-GNW30

The SOUNDSLAYER Engine app is available for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS, but supported models, connection methods, and available features differ by platform.

• Windows/macOS: Compatible with SC-GNW30, SC-GNW10S and SC-GNW10 via USB connection. PC versions offer advanced sound settings and firmware update features.
• Android/iOS: For SC-GNW30 only, using Bluetooth (BLE) connection. Easily change settings and update firmware from your smartphone.

Please select the appropriate version for your device and usage. For more details, please refer to the Download page.

You can register your device with both apps, but only one can be operated at a time.

You can download the SOUNDSLAYER Engine app for each platform from the links below:

The requirements and operating environment for installing the app vary depending on the platform.

The steps to install the app are as follows:
1. Access the Download page according to your device (Android/iOS/macOS/Windows).
2. Download the app from Google Play, App Store, Mac App Store, or the Windows installer as guided for each platform.
3. After downloading, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

These numbers indicate the firmware version of the transmitter or neck speaker.
The version number is shown in a format such as "257-035-010" or "464-23092710-010," with multiple numbers separated by hyphens ("-").
The number of digits and groups separated by hyphens varies depending on the product.
A larger number indicates a newer version. By comparing the numbers, you can determine which firmware is more recent.
You can check the version number on the SOUNDSLAYER Engine app's "Settings Management > Product Information" screen.

The main features of the SOUNDSLAYER Engine app are as follows:

Main features of v2.0.0

• Display the status of connected SOUNDSLAYER series devices (SC-GNW10 / SC-GNW10S / SC-GNW30)
• Switch between sound modes (Game, Cinema, Music, Voice, Custom, etc.)
• Equalizer settings (select presets or adjust custom settings)
• Enable/disable audio effects such as virtual surround and bass enhancement
• Detailed adjustments for volume, balance, microphone level, etc.
• Check and perform firmware updates
• Check status such as battery level and connection state
• Switch app language (Japanese/English)
• Support for Bluetooth® pairing and device registration
• Initialize or reset app settings
• Access various help and support information

Additions in v2.1.0 (common)

• You can now turn off the neck speaker from the SOUNDSLAYER Engine app.

You can change the equalizer settings from the "Equalizer" menu in the app. Select a preset (e.g., Game, Cinema, Music, etc.) or choose "Custom" to adjust each frequency band using the sliders.
For detailed instructions, please refer to the Equalizer Settings section in the Basic Operation Guide.

You can change the sound mode by selecting from options such as Game, Cinema, Music, Voice, or Custom in the "Sound Mode" menu of the app.
For detailed instructions and descriptions of each mode, please refer to the Sound Mode Settings section in the Basic Operation Guide.

The Custom Sound Mode allows you to adjust and save only the equalizer settings to your preference.
Audio effects such as virtual surround and bass enhancement cannot be customized in Custom Sound Mode.

The SOUNDSLAYER series remembers the volume setting individually for each selector: USB, HDMI, TV, and Bluetooth.
This means you do not have to readjust the volume every time you switch selectors, as the device automatically recalls the previously set volume for each connection.

You can register up to three Custom Sound Modes.
The registered Custom Sound Modes are stored in the device itself, so once set, you can recall them from the device even without the app.

When you hover the mouse cursor over the Custom Sound Mode you want to check, a popup will display the Custom1/2/3 mode name and the name of the original sound mode from which it was registered.

Custom Sound Modes are stored in the device, so you can use them with any selector: USB, HDMI, TV, or Bluetooth.
Even if you switch selectors, your registered Custom Sound Modes can be recalled and used as they are.

The auto power-off function automatically turns off the neck speaker when there is no sound for a certain period of time during wireless connection.
If there is no sound (silent state) for the set time or longer, the power will turn off automatically.
*Disabling (turning off) the auto power-off function will increase energy consumption.
The default setting is "5 minutes."

For SC-GNW10S, and SC-GNW10, you can set the auto power-off function to "Off."
For SC-GNW30, you can choose the auto power-off time from "5 minutes," "10 minutes," "15 minutes," "20 minutes," or "Off."

You can turn the neck speaker’s indicator lamp (light blue) on or off using the app or by operating the neck speaker.

When setting via the app
You can switch the lamp on or off from the app settings. For detailed instructions, see [Basic Operation Guide > Change Lighting Settings].

When setting via the neck speaker
You can switch the indicator lamp (light blue, wireless connection) on or off directly on the neck speaker.
1. Please perform the following operation depending on your product:
 ・For SC-GNW30: Unplug the AC adapter from the transmitter.
 ・For SC-GNW10S and SC-GNW10: Unplug the USB cable from the transmitter.
2. Press and hold the [] button (microphone mute button)on the neck speaker for about 5 seconds until the indicator lamp blinks blue.
 ・Indicator lamps (L) and (R) blink once: Set to off
 ・Indicator lamps (L) and (R) blink twice: Set to on

Notice
・The setting is retained until you change it again.

"[2ch]" and "[Multi]" indicate the number of channels in the input audio source.
[2ch] means a 2-channel (stereo) source, while [Multi] refers to multi-channel sources such as 5.1ch.

When you select the icon for the neck speaker in the app, the indicator lamp on the connected neck speaker will blink.
This allows you to easily identify which neck speaker is connected to the transmitter.

"Main" refers to the neck speaker that serves as the reference unit when using two or more neck speakers simultaneously.
Typically, the first neck speaker powered on is recognized as the "Main," and its settings—such as volume and sound mode—are automatically applied to the other neck speakers.
If the neck speaker set as "Main" is powered off, the next powered-on neck speaker will automatically become the new "Main."
You can check which neck speaker is currently recognized as the "Main" on the app screen.

You cannot unpair Bluetooth® through this app.
To unpair, go to your device's Bluetooth® settings and remove the transmitter from the registered devices.

Try restarting the app or checking your device settings.

Update the app to the latest version, and if the issue persists, try reinstalling it.

Please check the following:
・If using the Bluetooth selector: Make sure the volume on your smartphone or tablet is not set too low.
・If using the USB selector: Make sure the volume on your computer is not set too low.
・Ensure that the neck speaker is properly connected to the transmitter via dedicated wireless (the indicator lamp should be lit, unless lighting is turned off in the settings).

If there is no sound, please check the following points:

1. Check the connection
   Make sure the transmitter's "HDMI AV OUT (ARC)" terminal is properly connected to the TV's ARC-compatible "HDMI IN" terminal.
2. Audio output setting
   Confirm that the TV's audio output setting is set to "PCM output."
3. CEC setting
   Make sure the TV's CEC setting (called "VIERA Link" on Panasonic TVs) is turned on. For details, please refer to your TV's instruction manual.
4. HDMI Control setting
   Make sure the transmitter's "HDMI Control" setting is set to "ON." The default setting is "ON." You can check and change this setting using the dedicated "SOUNDSLAYER Engine" app.

Please check if the lighting setting is turned off.

On the Windows version, if both SOUNDSLAYER Engine v1.0.0 and v2.0.0 are running at the same time, you may not be able to operate the device properly. Please close SOUNDSLAYER Engine v1.0.0 before use.

If the SC-GNW30 is operated from another smartphone or tablet, the message "The connection has been disconnected because it was operated from another smartphone or tablet." will be displayed, and the connection between the app and the transmitter will be automatically disconnected.
If you do not remember operating it yourself, for security reasons, please initialize the SC-GNW30 to its factory default settings and pair it with Bluetooth® again.

Please check the following:
・Make sure both the transmitter and neck speaker are powered on.
・Confirm that both devices are in pairing mode.
 For details on pairing mode, please refer to the instruction manual.
・Turn off other Bluetooth devices or move them away to avoid interference.
・Try turning both devices off and on again, then attempt pairing once more.
・If pairing is still unsuccessful, reset both the transmitter and neck speaker to factory default settings and try pairing again.
・For SC-GNW10, please check that the firmware is up to date.

You cannot delete specific transmitters, but you can remove all devices registered in the list by initializing the app.

When disposing of or transferring the product, please initialize the app and restore the transmitter and neck speaker to factory default settings to protect your personal information.

1. Turn on the transmitter and connect it wirelessly to the neck speaker.
2. Rotate the [VOL] dial toward [-] until the volume reaches the minimum value [0].
 ・A confirmation sound will play when the minimum volume is reached.
3. Press and hold both the [] button (sound mode button) and [] button (microphone mute button) simultaneously for about 5 seconds.
 ・A confirmation sound will play and the unit will enter factory reset mode.
 ・In this mode, the indicator lamps (L) and (R) will blink blue once every second.
4. While in factory reset mode, press the [] button (microphone mute button).
 ・All settings on the neck speaker and transmitter will be reset to factory defaults (the unit will power off).

Note
・Even after performing a factory reset, the pairing information between the neck speaker and transmitter will not be deleted (re-pairing is not required).
