Remote Shooting

Various functions can be used to record images. The displayed icons vary depending on the digital camera or other settings.

Preparations

  1. 1Make a Wi-Fi connection to the camera.
  2. 2Tap Home Remote shooting[Remote shooting].
    • (iOS devices) When a message to confirm the change of destination is displayed, select [Join].

    The recording screen is displayed.

Shooting

Shooting Pictures

  1. 1Set the camera's drive mode dial to [Single], [Burst 1] / [Burst 2], or [Self-Timer].
  2. 2Tap Rec Shutter.
    • Recordings are made in succession while Rec Shutter is long tapped.

Recording Videos

  1. 1Set the camera's drive mode dial to [Single], [Burst 1] / [Burst 2], or [Self-Timer].
  2. 2Tap Movie Rec button.
    • Video recording starts. Tap again to stop recording.
    • If the recording settings are changed during recording a video, the icons on the recording screen may not be updated.

6K/4K Photos

With 6K Photo, you can take a high-speed burst of pictures at 30 frames/second and save the desired pictures, each made up of 18 million pixels (approx.), extracted from their burst file.
With 4K Photo, you can take a high-speed burst of pictures at 60 or 30 frames/second and save the desired pictures, each made up of 8 million pixels (approx.), extracted from their burst file.

  1. 1 (If Priority of Remote Device is Camera)

    Set the camera's drive mode dial to [Burst 1] or [Burst 2].

    (If Priority of Remote Device is Smartphone Priority)

    Tap Menu [Drive Mode] and select [Burst Shot 1] or [Burst Shot 2].

  2. 2Tap Menu [Drive Mode] and select [6K/4K PHOTO].
  3. 3Tap Menu [6K/4K PHOTO] and select settings such as [Picture Size / Burst Speed] and [Rec Method].

Adding markers to specific scenes during shooting

Tap Marker during [6K/4K Burst(S/S)] recording to add markers. The added markers can be viewed on the camera.

  • Up to 40 markers can be added.

Time Lapse Shot

Takes pictures of animals, plants or other subjects automatically with a fixed interval.

  1. 1 (If Priority of Remote Device is Camera)

    ① Set the camera's drive mode dial to [Time Lapse].

    ② On the camera, set [Mode] to [Time Lapse Shot].

    MENU/SET[Camera][Others][Time Lapse/Animation][Mode][Time Lapse Shot]

    • Press the shutter button of the camera halfway to exit the menu.
    (If Priority of Remote Device is Smartphone Priority)

    ① Tap Menu[Drive Mode] and select [Time Lapse/Animation].

  2. 2Tap Menu[Time Lapse/Animation] and set the recording.

    [Mode] Switches between Time Lapse Shot and Stop Motion Animation.
    [Shooting Interval Setting] [ON]
    Sets the interval before the next recording takes place.
    [OFF]
    Takes pictures without leaving recording intervals.
    [Start Time] [Now]
    TapRec Shutterto start recording.
    [Start Time Set]
    Starts recording at the set time.
    [Image Count]/
    [Shooting Interval]
    Sets the number of pictures and the recording interval to be taken.
    • [Shooting Interval] is not displayed when [Shooting Interval Setting] is set to [OFF].
    [Exposure Leveling] Adjusts the exposure automatically to prevent large changes in brightness between adjacent frames.
  3. 3Tap Rec Shutterto start recording.

    A message is displayed for 5 seconds when the recording is stopped.

  1. Pause/end the recording

    Time Lapse Shot

    TapSet (A) during Time Lapse Shot recording to perform the following operations.

    [Pause] Pauses the recording.

    <Resumes the recording>

    a Tap Rec Shutter.

    b Select Set → [Resume].

    *When [Shooting Interval] is set to [ON], recording is resumed after the previous one at the set start time.

    [End] Stops the Time Lapse Shot recording.
    [Cancel] Returns to the recording standby screen.
  • The recording is paused when the charge on the battery of the camera runs out.
  • The camera does not enter the sleep mode until the set recording start time, or until the set number of pictures has been recorded.
  • Group images are created when two or more pictures are recorded.
  • Videos can be created from recorded group images using the [Time Lapse Video] function of the camera.

Post-Focus

The camera can perform Burst recording in the same picture quality as 6K/4K photo recording while automatically shifting the focus to different areas.

  1. 1 (If Priority of Remote Device is Camera)

    Setup the post-focus picture quality on the camera.

    MENU/SET[Camera][Others][Post-Focus][6K 18M] / [4K 8M]

    (If Priority of Remote Device is Smartphone Priority)

    Tap Menu[Drive Mode], and tap [Post-Focus].

    Tap Menu[Post-Focus], and tap [6K 18M] or [4K 8M].

  2. 2Tap Rec Shutter.

    Release the finger from Rec Shutter to start post-focus recording.
    When [Recording in post-focus] disappears, recording finishes.
    Select [OFF] in Step 1 to exit.

Bracketing

Multiple images are recorded by automatically changing the setting value of exposure, aperture, focus, or white balance.

  1. 1Tap Menu.
  2. 2Tap [Bracketing] and select [Bracketing Type].

    When a message to confirm Wi-Fi connection with the camera, tap [Yes].

  3. 3Select a recording method.
  4. 4Tap Rec Shutter to record.

    Select [OFF] in Step 2 to exit.

Auto Focus (AF)

If the auto focus is set on the camera, touch the screen to display the AF area to adjust the focus. The focus adjustment method can be selected depending on the position and number of the subjects.

Item Description
[Human/Animal Detect AF] Along with humans, animals such as birds, canines (including wolves), and felines (including lions) will be detected.
Animals will be prioritized for detection over humans.
[Tracking] When the focus mode is set to [AFC], the AF area follows the subject movement to keep the focus on the subject.
[225-Area] The camera selects the most optimal AF area to focus from 225 areas. This is effective when a subject is not in the center of the screen.
[Zone (Vert./ Horz.)] From the 225 AF areas, vertical and horizontal zones can be focused.
[Zone (Square)] From the 225 AF areas, a central square zone can be focused.
[Zone (Oval)] From the 225 AF areas, a central oval zone can be focused.
[1-Area+] Emphasis within a single AF area can be focused.
Even when the subject moves out of the single AF area, this remains focused in a supplementary AF area.
[1-Area+(Human/Animal Detect)] When a part of a human or animal enters the [1-Area+] AF area, the automatic detection AF area is indicated in yellow.
Eye detection works when a person’s face is inside the AF area.
[1-Area] Specify the position to be brought into focus.
[1-Area(Human/Animal Detect)] When a part of a human or animal enters the [1-Area] AF area, the automatic detection AF area is indicated in yellow.
Eye detection works when a person’s face is inside the AF area.
[Pinpoint] You can achieve a more precise focus on a small point.

The user can select an area from 225 areas and make a custom registration.

* The AF area reflects the setting on the camera. The AF area's settings cannot be customized from this application. Configure the settings for the digital camera in advance. When tapping your smartphone screen, it won't adjust the focus point.

Manual Focus (MF)

When the manual focus is set on the camera, the MF mode is displayed to manually adjust the focus.

  1. 1Set the focus mode lever of the camera to Manual Focus [MF].
  2. 2Tap MF.

    The MF Assist screen is displayed.

  3. 3Move the MF Assist position by dragging it.
  4. 4Use Left Right to adjust the focus.
  5. 5Use ExpandReduce to adjust the zoom magnification.
  6. 6Tap [Exit].

    After setting up the focus, the MF Mode screen is displayed.

  7. 7Tap Rec Shutter to record.

About operations

In the MF mode screen, double-tap or pinch out the screen to switch to the MF Assist screen.
Pinch out/in the screen to enlarge/reduce the frame.
Double-tap the screen to exit the MF Assist.

  • Cancel the Touch Shutter in advance.

1 Shot AF

Tap AF to adjust the focus.
When the focus is on the subject, the AF area turns to green.

Focus Peaking

In Tab tab menu, tap Peaking to enable it to display [P] on the screen, and the focused portion is color coded.
Tap again to cancel the color coding.

Touch Shutter

Simply touch the subject to focus on to automatically adjust the focus and the shutter is fired.

  1. 1Tap Tab RecTouch OFF.
    • The icon turns to Touch Shutter, and Touch Shutter is enabled.
  2. 2Tap the subject to focus on.
    • When the focus is adjusted, a picture is recorded.

Canceling Touch Shutter

    • Tap [Touch Shutter].

      The icon turns to [Touch Shutter OFF] and Touch Shutter is canceled.

Touch AF

Optimizes the focus for the touched subject.

  1. 1Set the Touch AF setting on the camera to [AF].

    MENU/SET[Custom][Operation][Touch Settings][Touch AF][AF]

  2. 2Set the focus mode lever of the camera to a setting other than [MF].
  3. 3Touch the subject.

    The AF area frame moves to the touched position to adjust the focus.

  4. 4Tap Rec Shutter to record.
  • Cancel the Touch Shutter in advance.

Touch AE

You can easily optimize the brightness for a touched position.

  1. 1Tap Tab Touch AE.

    The Touch AE adjustment screen is displayed.

  2. 2Touch the subject to optimize the brightness for.

  3. 3Tap [Set] (A).
    • This will optimize the brightness in the position touched.
  4. 4Tap Rec Shutter to record.
    • Tap Touch AE off to cancel the setting.
  • If the Touch AF setting on the camera is set to [AF+AE], Touch AE is not available.

Touch AF + Touch AE

Optimizes the focus and brightness for the touched subject.

  1. 1Set the Touch AF setting on the camera to [AF+AE].

    MENU/SET[Custom][Operation][Touch Settings][Touch AF][AF+AE]

  2. 2Tap the subject to optimize the brightness for.

    The AF area is displayed at the touched position with a dot to adjust the brightness at the center of the area.

  3. 3Tap Rec Shutter to record.
    • Tap Touch AF AE off to cancel the setting.

High Resolution Mode

Generate a picture with higher resolution based on images recorded multiple times.

  1. 1Tap Menu.
  2. 2Tap [High Resolution Mode].

    Setting Items:
    [Handheld High-Res]/
    [Picture Size]/
    [Picture Quality]/
    [Simul Record Normal Shot]/
    [Shutter Delay]/
    [Motion Blur Processing]

  3. 3Tap [Start].
  4. 4Tap Rec Shutter to record.

    Tap [End] to cancel [High Resolution Mode].

  • If blurring is detected, a picture with high resolution may not be composited. Fix the camera using a tripod, etc.

AF-Point Scope

The focus position can be temporarily magnified.

  1. 1Set the AF mode of the camera to [1-Area+], [1-Area], or [Pinpoint].
  2. 2Tap Tab AF Scope.

    A magnified window is displayed.

  3. 3Use expandcontract to make an adjustment.

    Tap AF Scope Off to cancel the setting.

Sheer Overlay

Displays recorded pictures by overlapping on the recording screen.

  1. 1Set [Sheer Overlay] on the camera to [ON].

    MENU/SET[Custom][Monitor Display][ON]

  2. 2Select the picture to overlay on the camera.
  3. 3Tap Tab Sheer Overlay.

    Sheer Overlay Is displayed on the screen, and the picture selected on the camera is displayed translucent.

  4. 4Tap Rec Shutter to record.

    Tap Sheer Overlay to cancel the setting.
