Method 1

If Windows Vista is preinstalled in your computer, or you never installed MotionSD STUDIO in Windows XP and have completed upgrading your OS to Windows Vista


Set the SD video camera to ?PC Connection ModeEand connect it to the computer via a USB cable.


Log in with the computer administrator account. Close all currently active software.


Run the downloaded program (MSDS120E_Setup.exe).


Follow the instructions on the dialog box to begin the update process.


The update process will finish after a given period of time.


Copy all the files in the sample data folder on the MotionSD STUDIO Installation CD that came with the SD video camera to the MotionSD STUDIO folder on the HDD.
Sample data folder:\MSDS\Sample on the CD-ROM MotionSD STUDIO folder on your HDD:C:Users\Public\Pictures\MotionSD STUDIO
(If you are opening the folder from My Computer or Explorer, do it in the following order: C:> User > Public > Public Pictures > MotionSD STUDIO)


Check the "MotionSD STUDIO" version.
Launch MotionSD STUDIO and select [Help] [Version information] to see the version.
If "MotionSD STUDIO 1.2E Ver1.20L19" is displayed, then the update was successful.The update process is now complete.

Method 2

If you installed MotionSD STUDIO in Windows XP, then upgraded your OS to Windows Vista after uninstalling Motion SD STUDIO


Set the SD video camera to "PC Connection Mode" and connect it to the computer via a USB cable.


Log in with the computer administrator account. Close all currently active software.


Run the downloaded program (MSDS120E_Setup.exe).


Follow the instructions on the dialog box to begin the update process.


The update process will finish after a given period of time.


Check the "MotionSD STUDIO" version.
Launch MotionSD STUDIO and select [Help] [Version information] to see the version.
If "MotionSD STUDIO 1.2E Ver1.20L19" is displayed, then the update was successful. The update process is now complete.

Method 3

If you installed MotionSD STUDIO in Windows XP, and then upgraded your OS to Windows Vista without uninstalling MotionSD STUDIO


Set the SD video camera to "PC Connection Mode" and connect it to the computer by USB cable.


Log in with the computer administrator account. Close all currently active software


Run the downloaded program (MSDS120E_Setup.exe).
If a message is displayed telling you to uninstall the previous version, close MSDS120E_Setup.exe.
Go to Control Panel Uninstall a Program to uninstall MotionSD STUDIO. Then rerun MSDS120E_Setup.exe.


Follow the instructions on the dialog box to begin the update process.


The update process will finish after a given period of time.


Check the "MotionSD STUDIO" version.
Launch MotionSD STUDIO and select [Help] [Version information] to see the version.
If "MotionSD STUDIO 1.2E Ver1.20L19" is displayed, then the update was successful. The update process is now complete.

Method 4

If you installed MotionSD STUDIO in Windows XP and have not upgraded your OS to Windows Vista


Go to Control Panel Add/Remove Programs and uninstall MotionSD STUDIO.


Upgrade your OS from Windows XP to Windows Vista


Set the SD video camera to "PC Connection Mode" and connect it to the computer by USB cable.


Log in with the computer administrator account. Close all currently active software.


Run the downloaded program (MSDS120E_Setup.exe).


Follow the instructions on the dialog box to begin the update process.


The update process will finish after a given period of time.


Check the "MotionSD STUDIO" version.
Launch MotionSD STUDIO and select [Help] [Version information] to see the version.
If "MotionSD STUDIO 1.2E Ver1.20L19" is displayed, then the update was successful. The update process is now complete.

Method 5

If you have not installed MotionSD STUDIO in Windows XP and have not upgraded your OS to Windows Vista


Upgrade the OS from Windows XP to Windows Vista


Set the SD video camera to "PC Connection Mode" and connect it to the computer by USB cable.


Log in with the computer administrator account. Close all currently active software.


Run the downloaded program (MSDS120E_Setup.exe).


Follow the instructions on the dialog box to begin the update process.


The update process will finish after a given period of time.

Troubleshooting Q&A

Question 1. I cannot uninstall MotionSD STUDIO, which I installed in Windows XP, from Windows Vista

Answer 1.
Run the MotionSD STUDIO 1.2 update program (MSDS120E_Setup.exe).
When a message is displayed telling you to uninstall the previous version, close MSDS120E_Setup.exe.
Go to Control Panel Uninstall a Program. You can now uninstall MotionSD STUDIO.

Question 2. When I launch the MotionSD STUDIO 1.0/1.1 installer or MotionSD STUDIO 1.2 update program in Windows Vista the error message "Directory not found" is displayed and the installation fails.

Answer 2.
The MotionSD STUDIO 1.0/1.1 installer cannot be used in Windows Vista. This error message may be displayed if you try to launch the MotionSD STUDIO 1.0/1.1 installer in Windows Vista.
If the above message is displayed, close the installer and create a C:\Windows\Temp folder using Explorer, etc., and then launch and install MotionSD STUDIO 1.2.

Question 3. I installed the MotionSD STUDIO 1.2 update program in Windows Vista, but the sample data was not installed.

Answer 3.
No sample data is included in the MotionSD STUDIO 1.2 update program. Copy all the files in the sample data folder on the MotionSD STUDIO Installation CD that came with the SD video camera to the MotionSD STUDIO folder on your HDD.
Sample data folder: \MSDS\Sample on the CD-ROM
MotionSD STUDIO folder on your HDD: C:Users\Public\Pictures\MotionSD STUDIO
