When the DVD recorder is placed in standby mode, it communicates with your cable box via the IR blaster.
During this time it searches channels to download TV Guide data.
Such situations occur when the customer is attempting to watch TV by connecting their TV directly to the cable box, thus bypassing the DVD recorder.
While watching any TV, the DVD recorder should be on and channel selection is made through the DVD recorder.
