DMR-HWT260GN Firmware Download (Australia, New Zealand)

Step 4. Firmware decompression

Check the file size of the downloaded file and decompress it. (Supported for Windows only.)

  1. Checking the file size
    Right click on the downloaded firmware, and select "Properties". Make sure that the size of the file is the same as the size listed on the download page.
    If the file size differs, please download it again. After checking the size, click [OK] and the "Properties" window will close.
  2. Decompressing the file
    Double click the downloaded firmware and decompress it.
    The decompressed file will be named "PANAEUSB.FRM".

File size is 137,179,944 bytes.

NOTE:
You will not be able to install firmware designated for a region that is different to the region in which you purchased your Panasonic Recorder.

Step 5. Create a firmware update USB memory.

Follow the operating instructions below to create firmware update USB memory.

    Steps
  1. Prepare a USB memory with the capacities up to 32GB and without write errors, if the USB memory has write errors, Panasonic Recorder can not read the USB memory.
    And before going to next step, please confirm that you have no problem if the original contents in the USB memory are deleted.
  2. Format the USB memory by FAT file system on a Microsoft Windows PC.
    (Please do not format by NTFS or exFAT file system.)
  3. Copy "PANAEUSB.FRM" file which was decompressed in Step 4 to Root (*1) of the USB memory.
    (*1) Root = Top layer of file hierarchy
Step 6. Install the firmware
CAUTION:
  1. The time to complete the firmware update will vary. In case of the Panasonic Recorder : 2 - 3 minutes.
  2. During the firmware update procedure, do not turn the Panasonic Recorder off nor disconnect AC power.
  3. Do not press any buttons, except as instructed.
  4. Failure to do so may result in the Panasonic Recorder becoming unresponsive which will require repair.
  5. When the firmware update finishes successfully, set contents on the unit such as First setup, TV-Guide and Timer Rec. program etc, do not change.

Timer Rec. returns to OFF status after the firmware update. If Timer Rec. is programmed, please turn your Panasonic Recorder on definitely. Timer Rec. will be recordable status. ( mark lighting )
UPDATE PROCEDURE
Procedure Operation
Preparation Turn your Panasonic Recorder on.
1 Insert the USB memory for firmware update to USB port of the Panasonic Recorder.
The Panasonic Recorder will first display "BYE" on the front panel display, automatically turn itself off and then, within a few seconds, restart again and automatically start installing the firmware from the firmware update USB memory.

NOTE:
If the Panasonic Recorder does not restart automatically after it has turned off, please press [POWER] on the Panasonic Recorder - the Panasonic Recorder will then restart and install the firmware update as normal.
2 The time to complete the firmware update will vary, In case of the Panasonic Recorder : 2 - 3 minutes.
Please be patient during the firmware upgrade!

NOTE:
During the update process, various messages will show on the front panel display of the Panasonic Recorder.
3 When the firmware update is completed, "FINISH" is displayed on the front panel display of the Panasonic Recorder.
4 Please remove the firmware update USB memory and turn off power with the power button of the Panasonic Recorder.

The firmware update installation procedure is now complete.

Timer Rec. returns to OFF status after the firmware update. If Timer Rec. is programmed, please turn your Panasonic Recorder on definitely. Timer Rec. will be recordable status. ( mark lighting )

NOTE:
If the firmware version currently installed in the Panasonic Recorder is the same or more recent than the firmware version on the update USB memory, it will be detected as a normal USB memory and Pop-up screen of USB memory will be displayed.
In this case, an update is unnecessary, please remove the USB memory.
